Skinworks Facial

This time of year can play havoc on our skin. With a change in external temperature, an increase in central heating and a busier than usual social life with less sleep, I always notice that my skin can be more tired, puffier and dehydrated than normal.

I will always say that I am really good when it comes to skincare and in general, I have a good home care routine to try and keep my skin in peak condition. However, there really is only so much that we can do at home and sometimes, it is nice to have a little help from the experts.

Skinworks, is a new salon located near the Kinsale Road Roundabout and they recently contacted me to invite me down for a Dibi Milano facial. Dibi Milano is an Italian brand which is part of the Alfaparf group and they have been around for years but only recently arrived into the Irish market.

Skinworks is a gorgeous salon with really lovely interiors and such an incredibly welcoming team of highly trained professionals.

After filling out my consultation form and discussing my skin concerns with my therapist, Amanda, I was taken to a treatment room for my facial. Based on my consultation, Amanda decided on the most suitable facial in order to get the desired results that I was hoping for.

The treatment itself was incredibly relaxing and lasted for 75 minutes. On completion, I did notice an immediately brighter complexion with a much smoother finish to my face. After my facial, I then had a dermalux treatment which is an infra-red light treatment. The light treatment can be done alone or done in conjunction with a facial. Amanda said that many clients come for the light treatment alone, particularly to be done in preparation for a special occasion. It is designed to boost the collagen in the skin and it is particularly good for clients with psoriasis.

Overall, I really enjoyed the facial and did notice a difference to my skin. I would definitely look at doing the Dermalux treatment – and Skinworks is the only salon in Cork with this particular machine so it is salon exclusive!

With regards to the products, Amanda very kindly gave me some samples to try which I loved. The price range for the products is middle of the road so it is good value for a luxury brand – it would make a great Christmas gift.

The salon price list is here and you will see that they do a whole host of treatments including facials, tanning, waxing and much more!
