Whenever I try new make up or skincare products, I like to give myself at least a week with make up to allow a proper test and opinion with different length days, different temperatures and different challenges for the product. And the challenges are not just for the product but equally to see if the products suit my skin as all skin types are very different.
With regard to skincare, I like to leave about 4-6 weeks to see if my skin has seen a difference in visibility and texture. Skincare changes certainly do not happen over night and nor do the happen by miracle. Exceptional skincare is essential if you want to have good skin now, but also into the future.
Interestingly, whilst I was on TV3 Elaine this week, we had a good chat about fillers and botox and how more and more people are letting them dissolve from their skin and focus more on a very thorough skincare regime along with healthier living as an alternative.
I had heard really positive reports about the Neostrata products before I tried them and also the fact that they are designed by dermatologists and are science driven for results.
I would consider myself very good for skincare, in that, I exfoliate every morning in the shower and then I would cleanse every night. I would use a mask at least twice a week and moisturise twice a day. However, I will admit that my moisturiser that I use on my face – is always a good quality – I spread it to my eyes and neck and tell myself that it is sufficient whilst a dark voice in my head is telling me that it is not!
Someone once described moisturiser to me as follows – think of it like a cordial that you drink. The more water you add, the weaker it becomes. So, the main moisturiser that you apply to your body would have the most watered down version. Your face would be more concentrated than your body moisturiser and then your eye cream would be pure cordial – fully concentrated to have maximum effect on the weakest area.
I have to give full thumbs up to the Neostrata Eye Cream and the Neostrata Neck Cream. The Neostrata line is a luxury beauty brand so the price range is no where near budget but you will not get excellent skincare results with a low budget product. These products do give results and are very much results driven. The consistency is perfect and not too heavy – specifically on the eye area.
The one area that I hate is my neck. I have 3 lines that seriously irritate me and I also have one line across my decolletage, which interestingly my mother has that exact same line but as I get older, I am certainly more conscious of the visible signs of ageing. The lines have most certainly not disappeared but they have become finer and more elasticity is on the skin so they are not as obvious.
So, going forward, I won’t be dragging the same moisturiser across my neck and eyes as I have seen first hand the difference of paying special care to those vital areas of our face. My Grandmother who is currently 96 years old with beautiful skin said to me when I was only a child – “you have 1 face, look after it” – and I intend to Nana xxx.
