Recently, I was very lucky to have been invited to stay at The Heritage, Killenard. The 5 star luxury hotel is located in Laois, which if I am completely honest, I had a preconceived notion that this would be a trek from Cork but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The hotel itself is a mere 10 minutes off the Dublin motorway and only 15 minutes drive from the Kildare Village shopping outlet.
On arrival at the property, I was immediately impressed by the palatial style lobby which is furnished with magnificent marble and I also welcomed the delightful aroma of fresh flowers which are located in various areas around the public areas of the hotel.
Our bedroom was an extremely comfortable space with a fabulous lakeside view over the golf course – I would recommend one of these rooms when booking. They are limited so do book early but the morning view with the Spring sunshine was really something special.
The property has excellent guest amenities including a full movie theatre, a reading room close to reception, a bar (which has live music on some nights), the Arlington Restaurant (dinner and breakfast there is stunning), a playground, playroom and fairy garden for the little guests and also a spa. My only regret on this stay is that I did not allow sufficient time during my stay to indulge and enjoy the award winning spa. I will definitely be making a trip back with the girls for a shopping and spa trip.
I would definitely recommend this hotel as it has something for all types of guests – business or leisure. The highlight and strongest point of this hotel though are it’s people. As soon as you enter the property, you get a very warm welcome from the team. Every team member that I met had exceptional customer service skills and you could see that they took pride in the property and took pride in their job.
